Europe Packing Essentials
Secure bag
Get a bag that is cut-proof - check on PacSafe bags!
Credit Card with no international charges
There are several credit cards that don't have international charges so you can use it like you use it home. Do have the notifications configured to make sure you get notified of all charges to guard against fraudulent charges. Chase Sapphire Reserve is one of the best travel cards on the market. Despite high annual fee, it is easily offset by the $300 annual travel bonus, lounge access, global entry fee waiver and other benefits!
Power Converter
We love this one the best, it allows for multiple types of connections and has 2 USBs.
Selfie Stick
It's so nice to be able to take a picture yourself especially with COVID precautions
Decongestant
In case you get sick and congested, you won't be able to find it in the European pharmacy
comfortable walking shoes
Heels don't work well on cobblestones. You will also probably be doing miles and miles of walking. So, do pack a pair of well-worn and reliable pair of walking gym shoes!
Food for Thought
Other Considerations
- Are you going to stay at AirBnB or VRBO and will have laundry? That will greatly reduce # of items you need to bring!
- Pack minimalistic reusable wardrobe pieces so you can mix and match!
- Consider items from brands like Lululemon and Athleta – their sweat-wicking properties will help your clothes last longer until you need to wash them (in a pinch)
- Pack your essential medicine. Pack decongestant, they don’t seem to carry it in Europe.
- Pack for changes in weather. Quite frequently it might be hotter or cooler than you expect, so anticipate it!
- Pack less then you think you need. It might be counter-intuitive, but you will probably buy some items during your travel, so it’s nice to have more room in your suitcase!
- Pack carryon if you can. It is so freeing not to depend on checked luggage, lose time waiting for it, or have luggage lost!
