Family Travel to Barcelona (Spain)

Family travel to Barcelona (Spain) should be on top of your list! Food! Gaudi! Gelato!

Those are the three words that come to mind when we think back to our visit to Barcelona! Aren't those the best criteria for the most successful family adventure!?

Winter Holiday Itinerary

We visited Barcelona during kid’s Christmas break. It’s truly magical time in Barcelona when you can enjoy holiday decorations and nativity scenes.

Must do during Christmas time:

– Visit Holiday market (there are several and we visited one by Catedral de Barcelona – Fira de Santa Llucia).

– Visit Nativity scenes. Check for what is available when you go. We visited the one in Barcelona Catedral (it had live swans). Really cool!

– On the holidays, aquarium is usually open (check before you go). The coolest thing to do in the aquarium is to feed the fish. Do buy the fish food bottle, this was a real treat for the kids and adults alike!

If you need to do any shopping on the holidays, the shopping mall by the port is open.

Staying in Barcelona for New Year's Eve?

For the best family travel experience in Barcelona if you are staying in town through New Year’s Eve, is to attend the New Year celebration by the Montjuic Fountain. We booked a hotel right on plaza the Espana and watched fireworks from the roof of the hotel. Amazing experience!

Tip! Make sure to buy grapes, so you can eat 12 grapes as the clock strikes down midnight!
