Eating
gluten Free
When we travel, we usually print out explanation about our allergies in the native language. Also, when we arrive to the resort, we always talk to the chef what meals we can freely have and what we should avoid. The abundance of fresh fruit and salads really helps with all meals. So, our advice, make sure you ask to talk to the chef, and they will definitely accommodate you. If in the morning you want gluten-free bread, we found that most places have it available, but you need to ask for it.
Xel-Ha
Park
What do you love doing in Mexico? Our favorite activities are of course sunbathing and swimming in the ocean. After a few days, we start pondering different activities though! For best family activities, these are the parks we adore: Xel-Ha - spend a day hiking and snorkeling in this expanse park. Explore coves and cenotes, wander through jungle and mangroves!
Tour
Cozumel
If you travel with older teachers and teens, this would be the best family activity! You and your amazing family can take a tour and go swim to see shipwrecks and sea turtles, check out corals, colorful fish and visit Cielo! We did that last time we were in Mexico, and it was an amazing experience. Yes, it does take a bit of swimming to get close to these magnificent creatures and its tons of fun for kids to see and explore shipwrecks while snorkeling. If you need a recommendation of the company we used, please reach out! Also, Cielo is an amazing spot with shallow crystal-clear water. Totally a must!
All-Inclusive
Resorts
Our favorite resorts that we have stayed in so far are Iberostar and Occidental. We feel those are the best for traveling with the family. Great resort placement, awesome accommodations, amazing food, fun entertainment and night shows. Do you have other favorite resorts that you would recommend? Let us know!
Xcaret
Park
Visit Xcaret Park. Do swim in the underground rivers, it's awesome, you can also swim with dolphins, manatees, many choices! If you travel with small children, this park is extremely stroller friendly! Also, it's a big park with lots of opportunities for family pictures. We usually take one or two every time we see park photographers. Then, at the end of the day we have over 100 of pictures and we pay for package. Great memories!
Cenotes
To Explore
Rent a car and visit multiple cenotes in the area. Our favorite is Dos Ojos! Highly recommend it! Yes, you will most likely need to put on a wet suit, because the water is quite chilly, but it's so much fun to explore one of the largest underwater cave systems. You can also dive there, but we snorkeled.
