Camping and Exploring South Dakota

Fun-loving, adventure-seeking family enjoyed camping and exploring South Dakota: the natural beauty of South Dakota plus manmade monuments.

We explored South Dakota on our way to Yellowstone National Park.

South Dakota has so many sites and parks to visit, it is definitely worth the trip!

We highly recommend doing the Wildlife Loop Road in Crazy Horse, SD, it’s so fun to see the wildlife, to see bison roam.

Do stop by Custer State Park. We did and it was so refreshing.

Mt Rushmore goes without saying, you have to see it. We also visited the Crazy Horse Memorial, and it is totally worth a stop. Watching a movie on how the Crazy Horse Memorial was created was extremely touching and meaningful.

Badlands National Park is must-see. The ruggedness and the natural beauty, the vastness of the surroundings is simply mindboggling.

For a swim, we stopped by Cascade Falls. It is so refreshing on a hot day!

Also, on the way to Yellowstone, we drove to the Devil’s Tower. Although it might be a bit off the route, we highly recommend it. It was quite a sight and produced extended conspiracy theories and discussions for our next drive!
